Things To Consider Before You Buy A Car
Purchasing a car is a major financial decision. Here are a few things to consider when deciding which car to buy.
Fuel efficiency is a major concern for many consumers due to high gas prices. Compact vehicles tend to be much more efficient than large SUV's and trucks. Hybrid vehicles such as the Toyota Prius are another option. Ford offers vehicles with a SFE (super fuel efficiency package) for added efficency.
Resale value is another important consideration; some cars depreciate quicky while those known for their reliability tend to hold on to their value. Resale values can be found online at Kelley Blue Book. You can also browse your local newspaper classifieds or online Craigslist ads in order to get a gauge of
the going price for specific makes and models.
It goes without saying but it's always important to test drive the vehicle. Things such as visibility and quality of ride should be experienced first hand. How is the visibility? Can you see clearly behind you when changing lanes? Turn down the radio and listen if there is any excessive exterior noise. If you are buying a used vehicle make sure to have an independent mechanic check out the vehicle for defects. Run a Carfax report; this will let you know the number of previous owners and if the vehicle has been involved in any collisions among other things.
