Republicans Defeat Minimum wage increase for poor people.

Washington (CNN) -- An election-year showdown over a Democratic priority -- raising the federal minimum wage to $10.10 an hour -- saw Senate Republicans block the measure on Wednesday, unleashing a torrent of criticism from President Barack Obama and his party.

The measure failed to get the 60 votes needed to open debate in the 100-seat Senate, with only one Republican joining majority Democrats in an unsuccessful effort to overcome the GOP filibuster.

While another vote on the proposal is possible, Obama and Democrats quickly sought to exploit the measure's initial stumble into political capital for November's congressional elections.

The Democrats are right > A minimum wage increase to $10.10 an hour is not unreasonable.....At all.

The Republicans are right > The wage increase will cost jobs...This is not a partisan statement as the CBO has said as much..Sort of Duh...You have a 15% labor cost and sales remain the same then of course a higher dollar per hour worker = less workers.

My thing is although I agree with both parties I'm going to have to lean toward the Democratic position.

    Why?

Because even though some jobs will be lost the jobs that will remain will be more desirable as a means to become self reliant.

There is a limit of course...But I don't think $10 an hour is over the limit or unreasonable.

For those out there that say there should be no standard at all I say that is more communist in nature than anything proposed for a free people.

Market values are not for the injection of explotation.
