Melissa McCarty Opens Up About Her Secret Life On Late Night Health

Former Los Angeles CBS 2 and KCAL 9 reporter, Melissa McCarty, had a secret in her professional life that nobody knew…until now.

McCarty appeared on KABC Radio’s Late Night Health with host Mark Alyn to discuss her tumultuous upbringing in a household where her brother suffered from bipolar disease.

“Bipolar disease is a relatively unknown mental disorder,” said McCarty. “Sufferers may not even know they have the disease, and it leaves family members feeling frustrated and guilty for not recognizing the symptoms earlier.”

McCarty is the author of News Girls Don’t Cry, an autobiography that chronicles her rise in television news while trying to hide her dysfunctional family life with her brother. For more on McCarty’s book, visit the website, http://NewsGirlsDontCry.com.
