Migrated to the United States in search of opportunities to a brighter future. My family and I left our small town in central Mexico and moved to the norther suburbs of Chicago. Today I am a college student in St. Paul, Minnesota and planning to attend Medical School. Every time I am faced with a new challenge or obstacle I look at this photo. A picture that captures the essence of my culture, my values and my morals. As a child I did not have many toys or video games, I grew up playing in the dirt and running around breathing in the fresh air of rural Mexico. Many times I find myself submerged in today's modern civilization and forget that life is more than materialistic. Looking at this picture reminds me where I come from and why I'm here. It reminds me of my goal and why I left my home country and old life behind. This picture represents my childhood and reminds of home. A home that sadly fades away with everyday that passes, but that I'm reminded of every time I look at this photograph.
