CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Chris Morrow visited the San Diego Zoo and instead of looking at the animals she decided to check out the zoo's botanical collection. She interviewed the zoo's senior plant propagator Christy Powell who showcased the rare plants unique to the zoo. 'It's kind of crazy to go there for the plants and not the animals,' Morrow said.

Usually I visit the San Diego Zoo for the animals. This time I explore the wealth of the Zoo's accredited botanical collection during their 21st annual spring Garden Festival. The San Diego Zoo has more than 700,000 plants and over 900 different types of orchids!
