    Schoolcraft Community Reading Garden Dedication

    On May 17th at 1:30pm the Schoolcraft Community Library and citizens of Schoolcraft will dedicate the newly completed Schoolcraft Community Library Reading Garden. Construction for the garden began in September 2013 fulfilling a dream of Director and Children’s Librarian Bobbi Truesdell combining her two passions reading and gardening. Funding of the dream came from donations and events including the Great Library Roofsit, Village of Schoolcraft, Vicksburg Foundation, Schoolcraft Friends of the Library, donations from the community, and a Garden Party Fundraiser.

    Events for the dedication include:
    • Flag raising by the Sons of American Legion
    • Schoolcraft Boy Scouts leading the Pledge of Allegiance
    Leader: Jennifer Thompson
    • State Representative Margaret O'Brien will read the resolution
    • Ribbon Cutting by John Pawlak and Craig Roe who designed and built the Reading Garden
    • Marilyn Jones will read her poem “Library Garden Dedication 2014”
    • Reading of the Declaration Rights to Libraries by Nancy Rafferty, Darby Fetzer, Amie McCaw, John Chapin, Faye VanRavenswaay, Eric Ray, Gary Monroe, Clyde Springer, Priscilla Cronley-Swiat, and Lindsey Johnson
    • Schoolcraft Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors distributing butterfly stickers wearing fairy wings
    Leader: Toni Rafferty

    Gifts in kind for the ceremony provided by:
    Friends of the Library
    Jim Stamper of the Heirloom Rose provided the flowers for participants
