Last Night Near My School! CSUSM
My friends and I just came back from the beach at about 6pm and didn't expect the fires to be less than a mile from my college! My school ordered an emergency evacuation at 3:45pm yesterday and it was during our finals week. The rest of the finals got canceled this week and the commencement ceremonies on Friday and Saturday for graduating seniors also got canceled. :( Oh, and this picture was taken in the shopping parking lot across my school. There was people gathering there watching with concern and wonderment at the huge flames upon the hills nearing the homes and apartments. It was surreal, in my time being there, all entrances were closed off to my school. Many officials were using the flat parking lots on the school grounds to land helicopters and there were as much as 7 fire trucks all at once, driving towards the raging fires. The air was changing, there was small specks of gray ash falling and the ash was even noticeable from the beach in Encinitas. The sun and sky loomed a dark cast of orange and reds during the sunset. It was just a strange day overall.
