These are pictures that my fellow peers and friends from California State University San Marcos allowed me to send to CNN. There was a frantic moment yesterday at 3:40pm when a fire broke out less than a mile away from the university during finals periods. Students and faculty had to be evacuated, the university canceled the graduation ceremonies that were suppose to take place this Friday and Saturday. There were so many fires breaking out everywhere that my friends and I felt stuck and couldn’t do anything, nowhere felt safe. There were so many people evacuating, and even people trying to go towards the fires because they left important things in their homes, and trying to get their pets before the fires got there. There were people yelling at officials, wanting to pass through, but it was way too dangerous to let any people up near the mountain side. The fire was only getting larger too, gray ash was falling, and the sky smelled of smoke and had eerie hues of orange as the sun went down.
