'The flames were at my back door'

DC 10 dropping fire retardant near my house to create a fire break between our development and Cal State San Marcos

That dropped happened off Twin Oaks Valley & Village Dr which is about 1/4 Mile from the University and the surrounding brush and some structures were already burning in my neighborhood.

The flames were at my back door. The burn line comes up to our development's walls. Some of the fences and patio furniture burned, but the structures were saved.

I lived in this same area when the 2007 Firestorm that destroyed San Diego...and it happened much as it did in 2007. The biggest difference were the number of crews and the overwhelming aerial support. There is no doubt that without that aerial assault and assets, this whole community is gone. That is by far the biggest difference between 2007 and this weeks events.
