These are the real heroes

On Wednesday morning, May 14, 2014, a fast-moving fire ignited just east of the Aviara residential area in Carlsbad, CA. Fueled by fierce Santa Ana winds and unseasonably warm temperatures, the fire moved rapidly to the west, scorching over 400 acres, but sparing hundreds of houses, two schools, and numerous commercial buildings. Its no accident that these structures were saved - the community owes A HUGE THANK YOU to these brave men and women who worked for over 48 hours in near 100 degree heat and strong unpredictable winds, inhumane conditions, to preserve our community. They only rested when they couldn't go on. Thanks to these amazing firefighters, nearly all homes in the community are intact following the Carlsbad Poinsettia Fire. Its truly a miracle, for which we are all extremely grateful.
