    One Week Later, #StormyWatch Continues

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     sarmente37 shared a story about Stormy. Stormy is her close friend Jodi Otte's horse. The horse is due to give birth any day now, and her webcam feed has been drawing thousands of viewers, eagerly awaiting the delivery.
    - Jareen, CNN iReport producer

A week ago I knew absolutely nothing about horse pregnancies. And although I wouldn't call myself an expert just yet, I can say that I've learned quite a bit from watching from the comfort of my home my friend's gorgeous mare as she awaits the impending birth of her foal. You see, Stormy is in the East Coast. I'm in Chicago. What's more: there are now thousands of people all over the world who, like me, are watching and waiting for Stormy to go into full labor. We have been following for an entire week via a 24-hour live cam, bombarding Stormy's owner, Jodie Otte with questions and, best of all, interacting on Jodie's Facebook page with funny comments, memes and updates.

Some of the most hilarious moments come at nighttime, when it's typical of horses to give birth. That's when we all go crazy, analyzing every little move, checking in to see if Stormy's water broke and depriving ourselves of sleep hoping to witness the miracle of this little foal's birth.

What really impresses me the most is how many people have connected from places as far as Singapore, Australia, South Africa and The Netherlands to watch and wait. I know the reach of social media is a given thing these days, but frankly, it all seems surreal to me. I asked Jodie what she thought about all the extra attention. "I've created a cult!"- said Jodie- "the cult of Stormy".

Here are some of the best comments so far:

"Wouldn't it be freaky, if once this baby is born, there are like thirty seven hundred of us cyber parents demanding to have visitation rights? I'm imagining all of us storming the Otte compound like the walking dead with little stuffed animals and balloons in hand. It'll be like a Stephen King equestrian novel. And God forbid should this birth happen off screen (like the far left of the stall or something, or while the stream is down...... RIOTING!!!"- Gary Goodman

    "Ode To Stormy:

Stormy, it's about time to get rid of your bump
We have been watching intently on your rump
The world is glued to the cam
Thinking your pregnancy is just a scam
Mostly you are eating hay, what a way to spend your day
It is now time for a little action
Just think of the viewer reaction....
So now concentrate on having this foal
Please make this your only goal!
I promise I will stop this corny rhyme
If you don't delay and deliver on time!" - Roc Marks

"I stayed up till 4am watching last night! So tired right now! ... The royal baby wasn't this anticipated!" - Gemma Reeve, London, UK

"This is like the movie Groundhog Day. We might all start to lose it like Bill Murray soon."- Kelly Barclay

"I feel like I have become a stalker of your FB and Twitter page just to check comments from you."- Sheryl Shortridge

And my favorite: "So, it's not just photographers obsessed with #StormyWatch anymore - I was just diagnosed with fibromyalgia, and shared the link with a group I'm in. One of the comorbidities associated with fibro is insomnia - Stormy has been keeping us all company at night and distracting us from the pain, too! She's a therapy horse."- Sarah Anderson Metz
