Thousands of Dead Fish surface in Marina Del Rey, CA - official cause uncertain
Thousands of Dead Fish surfaced in Marina Del Rey over the weekend. Reportedly, the dead fish first appeared on Saturday evening, May 17. By Sunday morning, May 18, 2014, thousands of the fish appeared floating in the Marina Del Rey basin near Bora Bora Way. Other dead sea creatures included stingrays. California Fish and Wildlife worked to remove the dead fish while seagulls, pelicans and sea lions hovered around and among the masses of fish. Currently, most locals theorize that lack of oxygen in the water from algae or the recent excessive heat wave is the cause. There is no official cause yet.
