What Christopher Cowdray Considers the Meaning of Luxury Hospitality in 2014

The luxury hotel industry has changed dramatically over the last few decades. With many hotels striving to improve their reputations, and the relations that they have with their guests, the market has seen a significant shift. One of the leaders in this has been Christopher Cowdray, who has managed a variety of luxury hotel chains.

One of the main aspects is in the expectations of a luxury hotel. The previous incarnation was one of bloated pretentious accommodations, and the stereotypically snide attitudes attributed to hotel staff. But that's a reputation that Christopher Cowdray has worked hard to erase, by his unique approach to The Dorchester Collection of luxury hotels.

Now they are better known for friendly, and much more efficient service. But also the atmosphere of the hotels. People want something to do, experiences that they can enjoy. That's why the focus has become more about what the hotel can offer their guests.

Including things like workout facilities, the pool area, restaurants, and of course the feeling of luxurious ambiance throughout the hotel. Things like larger rooms, and higher quality furnishings are important as well, as they provide the hotel with that air of luxury that's so important.

Location is also extremely key, as the area needs to be something safe, but that is also about luxury. Meaning a beautiful atmosphere, and foliage that helps add to the luxurious exterior of a location. That commitment to putting people first is where he's found his success, and why he's been able to run a hotel chain like this for so long.
