The Painted Bears Of Cherokee Indian Reservation NC

Currently there are thirteen painted, life size, fiberglass bears scattered throughout the business district of the Cherokee Indian Reservation NC. They are painted by Eastern Band Cherokee artists. A total of twenty five bears are commissioned to be painted. We were fortunate to stumble upon their Fall Festival, with fantastic works of art, pottery, jewelry, clothing and native foods. The leaves were almost at peak color in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It was a peaceful and meaningful weekend. Here is a link if you are interested in reading more on the Eastern Band of Cherokee.
