Tiny Planets : 360° Camera Rig Flown With a Drone Looks Crazy
This is the music video for Booka Shade's "Crossing Borders", which was shot using a special 360 degree camera rig, designed by Michael Kintner of 360Heros, that mounts 7 GoPro cameras to produce a 360 degree image. That camera rig was then flown using a hexacopter drone all over the State of California. The results are somewhat mind bending and give you a whole new perspective of a landscape.
The video was directed by Ryan Staake of Pomp&Clout and was produced by Pier Pictures. Aerial photography was captured by a team from Octofilms. Links to an interactive version of the video as well as a downloadable version meant for the Oculus Rift headset can be found in the video credits below. A featurette on how the project was made can be seen on Pier Pictures' Vimeo page here:
Booka Shade - Crossing Borders (The Making Of...)
The 360 technology is something that is being progressed and pursued almost as rapidly as drone photography. Even more recently, Pier Pictures adapted the 360 technology for The Flatbush Zombies X Trash Talk’s “97.92” music video, which is a hip hop performance piece. The video was produced for Converse CONS and was recently selected as a Vimeo Staff Pick.
