Camelopardalids Meteor Shower over Mono Lake

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     CatsEye photographed the Camelopardalids meteor shower over Mono Lake in Lake, Lee Vining, California, in the early morning hours of May 24. She says there were tons of photographers camped out at the lake hoping to catch a glimpse. 'There were many photographers there, all you could see were the lights of their cameras scattered around the lake,' she wrote in her iReport.

I'm lucky enough to live in one of the best star gazing areas around as there is little to no light pollution in the Eastern Sierra Nevada of California. in anticipation of the Camelopardalids Meteor Shower I took the short drive to Mono Lake, which has an excellent view of the north sky. There were many photographers there, all you could see were the lights of their cameras scattered around the lake. I set up my camera in a little cove area, pointed it toward the north and let the show begin. I captured several good meteor shots and saw about half a dozen or so with my own eyes.
