    Camelopardalids in Northern Washington

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Atmospheric Scientist JMTomlinson was in Steamboat Rock State Pack near Electric City, Washington, when he captured these photos of meteors streaking the night sky. He camped out on an abandoned road near Banks Lake to watch the meteor shower. ‘We drove till we almost hit the water, opened the hatch up on the SUV and enjoyed the view over the lake towards the North,’ he said.
    - Jareen, CNN iReport producer

North Central Washington state has some of the darkest skies in the United Sates. We spent the night in our SUV on an abandoned road near Steamboat Rock State Park. The Camelopardalids meteor shower was mostly a bust if you judge it by the low meteor count. However, we did see some great even had a smoke trail! Unfortunately, my camera wasn't shooting that direction. To be honest, I thought I came home with nothing. However while editing photos, I was pleasantly surprised to see I captured a few great shots of the fireballs.
