This iReport is part of an assignment:
Another Shooting...Santa Barbara...Isla Vista
Blame it on knives...Blame it on guns..Will these mass killings ever stop?
No....They won't...Unless we change our society which isn't going to happen.
The reason is "thought and mind based" and has nothing.....And I mean nothing to do with guns, knives ,cars or bombs.
This should be an anticipated output from our overly materialitistic and self consumed society.
...And the obvious solution.
The mental aspect...That's what it is about.
Figure a way to change the negative and depressing thoughts of people and idenify risks and treatment earlier.
Peace and happy Memorial day!!
Please remember those who gave all.
Addendum – 5/25 AM > Reading more about the story this morning, here are some statements and/or facts with this case that stand out.
"This is almost the kind of event that's impossible to prevent and almost impossible to predict," UC President Janet Napolitano told reporters after giving the commencement speech at Laney College in Oakland, California.
2.) The Rodger family is not ready to speak publicly yet, but wants to cooperate fully with police, Shifman (their attorney) said.
"My client's mission in life will be to try to prevent any such tragedies from ever happening again," he said. "This country, this world, needs to address mental illness and the ramifications from not recognizing these illnesses."
3.)The Rodger family called police several weeks ago after being alarmed by YouTube videos "regarding suicide and the killing of people" that Elliot Rodger had been posting.
Police interviewed Elliot Rodger and found him to be a "perfectly polite, kind and wonderful human," but noted that he had few friends and no girlfriend, he added. Police did not find a history of guns.
4.) Santa Barbara County Sheriff Bill Brown reported that three guns were recovered from Rodger's car. Police said he had more than 400 rounds of ammunition.
"All were legally purchased from federally licensed dealers and all were registered to the suspect," said Brown.
5.) Sheriff Brown is also reporting that he believes the attack was a year in the making.
