On the way to Downe House in the tiny village of Downe, where Charles Darwin (discoverer of evolution) used to live, we came across this narrow, overgrown pathway beside a farm. Although Downe is technically part of greater London now, it is still very rural and you feel as though you are in the countryside. Darwin's house is not easily accessible if you don't have a car, but it was worth the effort - we got to see some charming sights like the one in this photo that we would have otherwise missed had we not been on foot.
