Beautiful Fort at the Foot of the Mountains

Oman is truly a beautiful country. Visitors who have been to UAE, Bahrain, and Qatar will surely notice that the tourism destinations here are totally unique. Oman boasts the preservation of their cultural heritage, historical sites, and grandiose nature. You will not see sky scrapers, theme parks, and huge shopping malls.

One of the must see attractions here is the Nakhal Fort located in Nakhal, about 120km away from Muscat. It is situated at the foot of Jebel Nakhal (Mountains of Nakhal) surrounded by palm orchards. The architecture of the fort follows the outline of the massive boulder on which it is built.

I was fascinated from the moment I saw it. It feels like that I have been brought back to the pre-Islamic era. Inside the fort you will find a mosque, dates storage, and residential quarters with a variety of rooms. The fort is huge and everywhere you turn is a picturesque.

As an expat who has been used to the city life, I find the place really interesting. If you will be here in Oman, it is highly recommended to visit the Nakhal fort, make sure you have plenty of time and energy to walk up and down the wall and to climb the stairs of this fortress. You will definitely not be disappointed.
