This iReport is part of an assignment:
    In Memoriam

was taught about being a "Phenomenal Woman"

I had to memorize and recite a speech in front of my English class. I struggle with severe anxiety and just the thought of doing that made me breathe heavy. After sharing the poem with someone I was very close with I was told "just pretend like you're reading it to yourself." That put the poem into a whole new light for me. It made me feel the need to stand up tall and show everyone I was indeed a Phenomanal Woman. And that was a feeling I had never felt before. Maya Angelou's works were so powerful for me. They literally changed my life. I may not have fully realized it until I was older but, she really taught me what it meant to be a Phenomenal Woman.
    Thank you Ms. Angelou
    And rest in paradise<3
