AACBE Organizes Educational Seminar on The Role of Business Education in Fostering the Culture of Dialogue and Understanding
AACBE’s seminar brought together higher educational leaders, scholars and students to discuss how higher education today, contributes or could contribute to creating a culture of dialogue at the institutional, local, regional and international levels
(Miami, FL – May 28th, 2014), AACBE was particularly pleased to host this seminar as its theme was and is in line with AACBE’s goal to promote cooperation and understanding at the international, regional and national levels and contribute to human dignity and solidarity through business education, teaching and learning, research and service.
The seminar successfully concluded convening university leaders from 42 institutions in 24 countries across the globe to exchange their valuable knowledge, learn from the discussions and presentations, and network in the most relaxed atmosphere. The 24 countries represented in the seminar were Brazil, Brunei Darussalam, China, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Israel, Jordan, Korea, Malaysia, Oman, Pakistan, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Zimbabwe.
The seminar was opened by Shayne Wild, AACBE representative with a lecture on the quality of business education and what universities can do to be recognized globally. A multitude of other notable speakers also gave enlightening presentations on topics like institutes global engagement in enhancing business education standards and faculty recruitment. The session also premiered the AACBE’s accreditation metrics and ranking system. It engaged the university leaders in determining the indicators that would be forming the rankings criteria. The seminar discussed about how business schools are looking for ways to increase recognition and credibility by improving their quality of education and other student-driven facilities. They also want to see their graduates working for reputed organizations. All this is possible only when their institutes are accredited by renowned accreditation organizations like AACBE. A quality-based set of core values and concepts were also introduced that will bring AACBE accredited school to a high level of excellence. The result is not only effective change, but also a renewed excitement for the educational mission. AACBE accreditation creates a sense of pride throughout the faculty, the business school, and the institution. AACBE accreditation allows institutes to offer the education students and parents are seeking— the education that equips students with the skill set to succeed in a competitive job market.
