In September of 2001 I was expecting Daughter number 4. She is the product of love between her Caucasian Mother, and African American Father. She has 3 older Sisters. Michelle, Melissa, and Molly. The three of them each had done reports for Black History Month that year in February, and had each chosen Maya Angelou as their subject. When it came time to chose a name for the new baby, there was no question. It had to begin with an M and the clear choice was Maya. During the past 12 years, she has lived up to this name. She has won art shows, and is a brilliant writer as well as talented singer. To me this name is synonym for talent. We couldn't have chosen a more appropriate name for our Daughter, and are proud to have a Maya in our family to remind us of such a talented inspirational woman. Maya Angelou.
