    In Memoriam

    Memories of Dr. Maya Angelou

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     baneta1 was an extra in the 1982 TV movie "Sister, Sister" that was written and produced by Dr. Maya Angelou. "She took the time to get to know the extras," baneta1 said of Dr. Angelou. She has never forgotten the powerful words Dr. Angelou said to her while they were filming: "Women go by many titles, but you, my dear, are a lady and that is a reflection of how well your mother is raising you."

"I didn't realize at the time how wonderful and how great and how powerful her words were to me. But I learned, through the years, just how gracious and how profound she was."
    - Verybecoming, CNN iReport producer

I was fortunate to work as an extra & as Diahann Carroll's double in Dr. Maya Angelou's TV movie Sister Sister ... After 2 days of filming, in my church, Dr. Angelou spoke with me and said, "Women go by many titles, but you my dear, are a lady and that is a reflection of how well your mother is raising you." ...I didn't realize, at the time, how wonderful & how great & how powerful her words were to me, but I learned, through the years, just how gracious, & profound she was... I will miss you Dr. Maya Angelou, a "phenomenal lady," to me! ~Pamela
