Get your car ready for summer

Summer will soon be upon us, so it is important to make sure that your car is ready for any summer activity you may throw at it. There are a number of things to check on your car, and some items to keep in your trunk to prepare you for any summertime situation.

With temperatures rising, make sure that your car has enough coolant, and that it hasn’t been too long since it was last flushed. The last thing you want in the summer is an overheating car. And speaking of overheating, making sure your air conditioning is functioning well will make your driving much more pleasant. It may be a good time to change out your cabin air filter and if necessary, the charge of your A/C system.

If you are planning on spending some time at the beach or even the local pool, having towels, sunscreen and an umbrella in your car will be handy. If your area has lots of mosquitos, bug spray is good to keep in the car too, as you never know when they may show up to ruin your day.

Cars.com suggests that those with kids bring a waterproof blanket for impromptu picnics, and baby powder to help get sand to stop sticking in places where it gets annoying. They also suggest keeping some cash on hand to pay for ice cream or other fun purchases at places that may not accept credit cards. Also: no crayons in the car, as they will inevitably coat your back seat with a colorful wax layer.

And if you find out your car isn’t up to the task of shuttling you to summer activities, or that you simply need a car with more room, places like http://www.enterprisecarsales.com/ have a big selection of pre-owned crossovers and minivans.
