    Manhattanhenge - Only in NYC

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Geshan Weerasinghe was standing on East 42nd Street in Manhattan when he photographed Manhattanhenge on May 30. During Manhattanhenge, which happens twice a year, the setting sun aligns with the cross streets of Manhattan’s main street grid, creating an illuminating effect throughout the borough. Weerasinghe says when the event happened, groups of strangers gathered around to photograph the sun peering down the street. 'Everybody was so excited to see this rare moment. 42nd Street traffic didn't move for a few minutes to allow pedestrians to see it,’ he said.
    - Jareen, CNN iReport producer

Today 05/30 is a special day to Manhattan. Twice a year in May and July setting sun aligns with the east–west streets of the main street grid in Manhattan, NYC. This illuminates streets with setting sun and there are lot of New Yorkers enjoy this amazing moment. I captured these photos in East 42nd street during the sunset.
