Adjunct Professors Forming Union at Point Park University

Working conditions, oversight by the administration, and pay, among other issues, prompted the adjunct professors at Point Park University to seek out the United Steel Workers for help in forming a union. Robin Sowards, Ph.D., representing the Adjunct Faculty Association, outlines the details in this interview conducted by Ford Shankle at the USW headquarters. Earlier reports indicate that around sixty-percent of the teaching load at Point Park is handled by the adjuncts, not the full-time teaching staff.
