    ‘Costurando o Futuro’ – tailoring for a better future

     

    The seamstresses in the small tailor’s shop Tecose in Brazil’s São Bernardo certainly don’t have bags of gold, but the bags they make are enough to earn their livelihood. It all originated from a city development project designed to give a future to women without much education and women threatened by poverty after retiring. For five years, this shop has used car seat covers, safety belts and smocks to produce all types of bags. Not to mention the occasional little football shirt from time to time, thanks to the football fever.
