    Man arrested for commenting on facebook

     
    Raju Prasad Sah was arrested in Nepal for commenting against the current Home Minister Bam Dev Gautam, quoting him, “He should be shot in his back” on a photo that was shared on the official facebook page of the national daily. The Story was covered by a national Daily Naya Patrika that featured the photo of the current Home Minister of Nepal crossing the freeway neglecting public safety rules at a midday on a busy road. raju-sah-goli

    The controversy went viral on social networking sites and Home Minister Gautam was publicly criticized for his careless behavior for not following road safety regulation. Sah is the Chief Administrative officer of Lahan district.

    From time to time it has been noticed that people have been arrested in Nepal just for expressing their personal opinion in social networking sites like Facebook. The current situation of a social media crisis has not only created a situation of legality of freedom of expression, but it has questioned about the role of storytelling and social responsibility of media.
