    Book Expo America 2014

The largest and most important gathering of publishers, booksellers, librarians, distributors, rights agents, ebook-technology developers, authors, editors, printers, scouts, bloggers, media, and book enthusiasts was hold in NYC between May 28-31th. BookExpo America (BEA) is the event that offers the book industry access to new titles, authors, and education about the publishing industry. BEA offers hundreds of new titles, 1,000+ exhibitors, and four Author Stages, along with the Digital Discovery Zone. Over 750 authors attended BEA this year.
During those packed with activities days attendee had a chance to meet face to face with favorite and up and coming authors. Hundreds of authors were book signing, including celebrities like Billy Idol or Neil Patrick Harris, Allan Cumming or a wonderful photographer Anne Geddes.
The day started with the Adult Author Breakfast on Thursday and Children’s Author Breakfast on Friday. During the curse of the day took place many conferences and book signings. Most of the time the line to meet the authors and get their book with a signature was quite long. It didn’t discourage fans though.

I personally had a chance to meet and talk to many authors. One of them was Laura Eisen with her kid’s book “Clouds for Breakfast”. Beautifully illustarted with colorful images and well written story that rhymes, it will, for sure, find many young readers.

Neil Patrick Harris teased his fans with the excerpt from his autobiography” Neil Patrick Harris: Choose Your Own Autobiography”. I read it and it sounds quite hilarious. It will be published on Oct. 14 2014.

There were also writters from different countires. One of them was Polish writter Mariusz Szczygiel with his book “Gottland” M. Szczygiel is one of Europe’s most celebrated journalists, a reporter and author of many books of reportage about Czech Republic and Poland.

I am looking forward to read all the books and one of the first ones on my list are “The Newirth Mythology. The Invasion of Heaven” by Michael B. Keop, “The Wolf” by Lorenzo Carcaterra and “Skink no Surrender” by Carl Hiaasen. But of course I am planning to read all the books and I am planning to start right now.
