This iReport is part of an assignment:
    '60s family photos

    Statue of Liberty

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Sj4 told me, 'My parents were medical missionaries to Nigeria from 1961-67 so my sisters and I were only two when we first went to Africa. (I am the youngest). During our time in Nigeria, we had little contact with the outside world (no TV, newspaper, radio) and no amenities (a/c, clean water, fresh meat, etc.). We were also home schooled until boarding school in the 5th grade. We all became very artistic and musical just from isolation alone. Just think about all that went on in the '60s and coming home to that world!'
    - hhanks, CNN iReport producer

We took the SS United States back from the UK in 1967 and were so excited to see the Statue of Liberty.
