    The best things about Poland

    Torun, Poland

One of the best things about Poland is the old Medieval cities. My favorite is Torun because it is close to my birthplace, and it was once home to Mikolaj Kopernik (Nicolaus Copernicus) 1473 - 1543. His home is now a museum that is open to the public. Walking through Torun's original cobblestone streets takes one back in time. Torun has many beautiful old buildings and churches as well as delightful restaurants. Torun is on UNESCO's World Heritage List due to its hundreds of historic buildings.

Our photograph shows our son and niece enjoying ice cream walking towards a gate in the old city wall. Beyond the gate lies the Wisla River, Poland's major river.
