Lyme Patient Flash Mob "Die In" in Front of the IDSA Headquarters

On May 22nd & 23rd, Lyme patients gathered around the IDSA headquarters to protest for the recognition of persistent infection in Lyme disease patients and are asking the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) to update its controversial guidelines for Lyme disease to reflect the current science. Lyme disease patients are also asking that the IDSA acknowledges the evidence for persistence of the bacteria that causes Lyme disease, despite the standard treatment.

Over 100 patients showed up from around the United States to protest and take part in the "Die in." The "Die In" is an activity where the patients all drop to the ground as if they have died, and lay there for about three minutes while onlookers and passers-by witness this event.   Many Lyme patients are dying and feel like they are being ignored by the medical societies.
