This iReport is part of an assignment:
Your 1960s rides
I don't know what year this car is, I think it is during the 1960's that my father bought it - its model was I think Austin. My father had it from the time we were small, and I was a baby, and we traveled in this car, to school, and went on trips in this vehicle for quite a long long time. The rear of the car was round and resembled a cutlet!!! it was a funny looking car, but served its purpose in transporting us back and forth to school, and for other travel. it was a nice cosy little car, I used to sit in the back seat upright holding on to the front seat so that I could see the road ahead. There were no seat belts in those vehicles then, nor the new found gadgets you get in the modern new vehicles, where everything from AC to auto, GPRS TV Radio is found, but this little vehicle did many miles with my father when he had to go out station for work.
When we used to go on trips with my father, my Mother would plead to my father to stop the car, as she would see something on the road and wanted to bring it back in the car, like a log or or some branch that would attract her attention. Every evening father would take the car out to go on a spin with my brother in the front seat and me in the back seat. Or else he would park the car somewhere and go on his long walks leaving us in the car... we enjoyed sitting inside the car and looking at the people go by until he would finish his walk and come back to the vehicle.
Ah! if I could only turn back the pages of yesteryear.....
We had this baby Austin till the early part 1980 when Father had to sell it to further my brother's education when he entered the University. I was very sad to see it go....
