    Angela Merkel and Vladimir Putin at Deauville before the D-Day 70th

     

    Discussions between Vladimir Putin and Angela Merkel about the situation in Ukraine took place in Deauville from Thursday, June 5.

     

    The Russian news agency RIA Novosti announced from May 28, 2014, Russian President Vladimir Putin was present at Deauville as part of the commemorations of the 70th anniversary of the landing of Allied forces.

     

    On June 6, the site of daily Ouest-France indicated that German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Russian President had Thursday 5 discussions margin commemorations and they were "arrived around 11:10 by the Normandy Barrière Hotel two separate entrances. The website stating "The Russian president arrived side street aboard a Mercedes, casual in shirt and jacket over shoulder. German Chancellor came from the other side of the hotel overlooking the sea, according to police. "

     

    An impressive safety device had been set up around the Normandy Barrière.
