This iReport is part of an assignment:
Your 1960s rides
I was born in 1971, and as an infant, came home from the hospital in my dad's 1968 Z28. Apparently that put some Camaro blood in my veins. I fell in love with the Chevrolet Camaro.
As I got older, I picked out the exact Camaro I wanted. I also managed to marry a Camaro lover as well. He had a 1968 Camaro coupe, which was his first car. We went to car shows, and enjoyed our love of classic cars together.
When the time was right, we searched, and found a '69 for me. It took 5 years of blood, sweat and tears, but my husband restored it for me. It was "Mommy's Cool Car", as my kids called it when they were littler. It is definitely a driver, no trailer queen in my garage! We even took it on the Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour in 2013.
For us, the cars of the 60's, the Camaros, the Mustangs, the Chargers, and more.... they are the cars that define the hot rod culture of today. The power, the sharp lines, the chrome, those help keep the culture alive today.
