Tactics to Overcome: Online Reputation Issues Your Company Might Experience

Most of the time, business owners are taken off-guard by various online reputation issues. Many businesses don’t even realize the importance of online reputation management. It can take a long time to develop a brand, but just a moment to destroy everything that you built over the years. It can be quite unsettling to just wake up one day and notice defamatory feedback on the Internet about your business.

In fact, negative reviews are always visible on websites that are ranked higher on popular search engines. Some of these websites include Google+, Angie’s List and Better Business Bureau. Whether the feedback is true or not, it can have a major impact on the standing of your business in the market.

Just because you’re able to notice some good results today does not mean you will see the same thing tomorrow. Search engine rankings and feedback can change any time. Feedback on social media, recent news, algorithm changes and many other things can have a major impact on the reputation of your business.

Building and maintaining positive online reputation is an ongoing and continuous process. Here are some effective reputation management techniques you can use to see positive results regarding your online reputation.

*Own Your SERP (Search Engine Results Page)
You should not feel satisfied with just a few links at the top of a SERP for your company or brand. You need to take full advantage of the Search Engine Results Page, and make sure you’re visible in many places on the first page.

    *Be Social
It is important for your brand to be social. Some social networks will prove to be more beneficial than others. However, you still need to keep all the social networks active and updated on a regular basis. This will prevent some other business from hijacking your brand name. It will also give you a bigger online presence, and control more places in the Search Engine Results Page. You should also link different social media profiles together.

    *Blogging
Blogging is an excellent way to enhance your online presence. You should buy a domain with your brand name, and develop the blog with positive, professional information about the company’s services, products, support issues, industry trends and other relevant information. Blogging can help you attract more traffic on the website, and help you build positive reputation about the company.

    *Be Creative
There are many good opportunities to help you get noticed on the Internet. For instance, you should encourage customers to show how your products are being used. They can create YouTube videos, and you can give some rewards for their efforts. Videos rank much better on popular search engines.

    *Active Press Release Strategy
You should not just rely on basic company news for the press releases. You need to consider some unique ways in which the products are being used. You should even publicize partners and sponsors you’re working with. You can develop an in-house department responsible for online reputation management. It can be responsible for handling tasks like :

    ● Social Media updates

    ● Public Relations Campaigns

    ● Developing Company Websites, Blogs and Forums

    ● Content Development

But beyond these, most companies don’t have the resources or experience that comes from working on multiple online reputation marketing campaigns.

You should never underestimate the cost of a poor reputation.
