Man Tears Apart Truck to Rescue Kitten

    - dsashin, CNN iReport producer

When Vero Beach, Florida resident Errand Frazier heard meowing coming from his truck, he wasn’t sure where to look. After checking under the truck’s hood, searching underneath and double-checking the interior, Frazier realized the sound was emanating from just below the vehicle’s bed. Taking matters into his own hands, Frazier cut back the metal on the right-hand side of the truck’s bed to expose any unusual spots where the cat could be hiding. “When I pulled (the metal back), there he was looking at me,” he recalled.

Unable to reach the frightened feline, the resourceful rescuer contacted the Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County (HSVBIRC) where staff members Robyn Krajewski, Tonya Martinez, Landy Paxson and Maria Valencia were able to safely extract the approximately eight-week-old female kitten.

A few days later, Frazier and Megan were reunited at the shelter. “I’m so happy to know that I helped her,” he said while cradling Megan in his arms. Thanks to Frazier’s incredible efforts, Megan was able to receive care at the Humane Society and was adopted within days of being rescued .
