This iReport is part of an assignment:
The maker movement
I am a maker of jewelry who specializes in cad, rapid prototyping, and 3d custom designes.
I truly believe that the maker movement will allow people to be more creative, offering new products and services that will uplift our economy. It is allowing me to start selling my jewelry designs without having to purchase and store any costly materials like gold or silver. This greatly reduces the risk associated with small business start-ups.
My models are already being 3d printed with fantastic detail directly into precious metal. I can even print working mechanisms like hinges. I also take advantage of high detail resin which can be used to create the wax models necessary for lost wax casting. I have recently paid $18 to print my "Herkimer Spiral" design which would cost other jewelers $60 to print.
