What makes you the No. 1 Soccer Fan for the World Cup?

The Panini “2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil” sticker album offers you the chance to become the No. 1 soccer fan. Every four years the Panini sticker album changes the life and habits of millions of people around the world. The entire family manages to complete the Panini sticker album together and also to meet up with strangers to swap the stickers.

The fever for the Panini sticker album reaches soccer fans on Twitter, Facebook and Craigslist. People have written down the numbers of their swaps hoping that other collectors will be able to help. Fans need 640 adhesive stickers in order to complete the 72-page Panini sticker album. In addition, on iTunes and Google Play there are downloadable apps to help collectors.

Panini is located in Modena, Italia where the stickers are created and it has been producing the adhesives since 1970. Panini has the capacity to produce over 25 million packets of stickers a day.

According to Sylvain Sardy and Yvan Velenik, two mathematicians at the University of Geneva, the number of sticker packs that you would have to buy on average to fill the album by mechanically buying pack after pack would be 899.

The adhesive stickers are not only hugely popular but also priceless for thieves. On April, a van with 300,000 stickers was stolen in Rio de Janeiro. However, Panini was well supplied and there was no shortage of the product for sale.
