Camp Pendleton Fire ZERO visibility on Interstate 5 freeway
See related video VIDEO of FIRE stops traffic I 5
A photo story of Tuesday October 14 Camp Pendleton fire crossing I 5. Image 8, the last one, is taken as I am driving northbound on I 5, you can not see anything in front of you.
This is one in a series of photos taken first at a rest area off Northbound I 5 in San Diego County. All the truckers and motorists that were in the rest area were asked to leave as a precaution, by US Customs Border Patrol (affectionatley referred to as "La Migra."
Moments after recording these photos, I reentered I 5 northbound only find the smoke making visibility quite difficult.
The related video shot moments after going through the black smoke northbound, I exited Las Pulgas Rd and immediately went southbound on I 5. My concern prior to entering the freeway southbound was to take an alternate route to my business appointment. I understand that the freeway in both directions was closed for almost two hours.
