Edgemere Welcomed Ex-CIA Spies Tony and Jonna Mendez Who Shared the Real Life Stories Behind the Movie Argo

Edgemere senior living community recently welcomed ex-CIA spies Tony and Jonna Mendez for a behind-the-scenes look at America’s covert operations and to hear the real life tales behind the movie Argo. The couple spoke to a packed house about their intriguing stories from their years in the spy game. They stayed after the presentation for a question and answer session and a book signing.

“Tony and Jonna are some of the most interesting individuals I have ever heard speak,” said Lorraine Rose, activities director at Edgemere. “Some of their stories were almost unbelievable. To think that their lives actually inspired the movie Argo is amazing. Our country is so fortunate to have people like the Mendez on our side.”

Tony Mendez and his wife, Jonna, are masters of disguise. Jonna earned the CIA’s Intelligence Commendation Medal during her 27-year career as a CIA intelligence officer. Tony won the Intelligence Star of Valor for singlehandedly engineering the rescue of six U.S. diplomats from Iran during the hostage crisis by disguising them as location scouts for a fake Hollywood movie.
