Female Hip Hop Producer… The Takeover!

I'm female hip hop music producer, DIAMXND$. I was born and raised on the Westside of Detroit, MI. Growing up I went to Catholic school, skipped the 7th grade, left the US to attend high school for theatre and was accepted to college at 16. I never thought music would be my path, but it kind of chose me. I've always been really into art, culture and language. I feel like being multilingual has given me a different perspective of life. Not only do I understand people's viewpoints but I essentially understand them as just a human being.

The hip hop industry isn't nearly as easy to break into as some people think. It takes a lot of time, dedication, patience and sometimes even tears. Being a female that makes beats is probably one of the hardest obstacles I've experienced because just about everyone counts you out. People tell you to try something different or just stand there and "be pretty" because some of them are honestly afraid to see what we have to offer.

I study architecture & journalism, so I'm used to being underestimated. That just gives me more fuel to show that women are completely capable of innovating and shaping the taste of a nation.

My family has been by my side every step of the way and honestly it is mainly because of them, along with this burning desire for change, that I am even able to continue. My faith in God is beyond strong because I know somewhere down the line I will get the opportunity to share every single idea that consumes me and could revolutionize my generation and beyond.

My sole purpose in life is to show the only thing that is impossible is your belief that it's impossible.

    Prepare for the takeover!
