Inside looking out…….When I look in the mirror most mornings I don’t recognize the person there, that’s not me, but if it’s not me who is it! For nearly 2 decades I have been hypothyroid and have never felt optimal since. After reading some of these stories here, I don’t feel I have the right to complain about anything as I have not suffered near as much as some of these people. I believe that I have lived in a foggy world and have just been existing and not really living. It’s very unfortunate for those of us that would just love to rewind and go back to life before hypothyroidism. Sometimes when the fog lifts if some are lucky, its 2 decades later and you wonder where in the world did all that time go, such a waste. The sad part is there is no going back, just forward. Thankfully we have computers now so that we can reach out and at the very least know that there are people out there like us. That we are not alone, as I have recently just found many groups on FB such as Thyroid change and Stop the Thyroid madness. One of the things that I am very grateful for in my life is my husband who has endured me and encouraged me, if it wasn’t for his love and total understanding I would certainly not have made it this far. I urge anyone that is newly diagnosed to not take this diagnosis lightly for fear that you to will just exist and not really live, life is much too short to accept this, take matters into your hands and find the help that you require. Now my only hope would ever be that my children do not inherit this awful thing called hypothyroidism! Someone please fix us all and make it better…………
