    Wildfires blazing near you

Wild Forest Fire and Very High Winds

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Charmayne Daw was on her way to Assayii Lake in Crystal, New Mexico, when she saw families evacuating the area on Sunday. The Assayii Fire has grown to more than 11,000 acres, forcing people in Sheep Springs and Naschitti to evacuate Monday, according to CNN affiliate KOAT. “When we got to the lake, we were a good 15 miles away from the fire. As we kept going closer, the visibility was limited,” said Daw, who lives an hour south in Gallup.

“It's so sad to see this happening because many of the elderly have their livestock up in that area, sheep camps and some live in that area. The mountains are so pretty and to see this huge fire and it getting worse each minute is so sad.”

The Chuska Mountains close to Asaayi Lake on the Navajo Nation is burning due to a human who was burning weeds. The size of the fire doubled over night from 1,000 to 11,000 acres. Parts of the area from Sheep Spring, NM to Naschitti, NM are being evacuated. The wind here is terrible at 35mph+ and zero percent of the fire has been contained.
