Clarksville Farmer Cleans Up After Storm

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Anelia K. Dimitrova was there as the Roos family cleaned up the damage after Monday night’s severe weather ripped through a steel grain bin on their farm in rural Clarksville, Iowa. “It was sad to see the devastation that happened on Mr. Roos's family farm once owned by his grandparents, the late Don and Faith, but it was refreshing and inspiring to see the hands-on, can-deal-with-what-has-been-thrown-at-me attitude, which is so typical of the Iowa character,” Dimitrova said. “Whatever tears may have been shed at the loss, that would have happened in private. On the site, there was nothing but resilience and resolve.”

Update: The National Weather Service confirmed that two EF1 tornadoes hit the Clarksville area Monday night, according to CNN affiliate KWWL.

    ON ASSIGNMENT WITH ANELIA

At the Roos farm in rural Clarksville, Iowa, Monday's storm ripped through a steel grain bin, tossing the debris across the road, barely missing the neighbor's log home. The twister lifted another bin off its foundation and destroyed a barn. A newly build machine shed was also among the casualties. No one was hurt.

On Tuesday morning neighbors and friends gathered at the farm to help with the cleanup.
