This iReport is part of an assignment:
    Underwater photography

    Accidental Scuba

My wife and I bought flights to Belize on a whim a few years ago. A flash fare sale put us in 'buy first and ask questions later' mode. The first question: "What's the most popular thing to do in Belize?" The answer is what put us into our favorite hobby.

Getting scuba certified for the trip changed our vacation lifestyle and now has us traveling the world each year in search of underwater adventures. Better underwater cameras capture vivid color (point and shoot camera photos are dominated by blue) but these shots were done with a canon elph in a scuba case.

The green turtle shot was taken about 15 feet below the surface in Bonaire. The other photo is of a group of black tip reef sharks, taken around 60 ft below the surface on a reef in Roatan, Honduras.
