Red Summer Sky At Night Sailor's Delight

A flaming sunset falls on the re-creation of the ship 'The Dove' at St. Mary's City, Maryland. She is one of two ships which made up the first expedition from England to the Province of Maryland. Undertaken by Cecillus Calvert and Second Baron Baltimore. On March 24,1634, the ship docked at St Mary's City, Maryland.
This historic site was the first capitol of Maryland for 60 years.
St. Mary's City is also known to be the birthplace of religious freedom for both Catholic and Protestant faiths.
We enjoy visiting the the reconstructed colonial settlement, buildings, museum and of-course touring "The Dove" and the re-enactments
