This iReport is part of an assignment:
It IS 'Boots on the Ground'
Semantics - don't be fooled by the words.
Today, President Barack Obama ordered "boots on the ground" to Iraq. Calling them advisers doesn't change the fact that we are once more in a combat role and zone.
I am not saying the President is wrong in moving back into Iraq to stop the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria from continuing its march on Baghdad and taking over the country.
ISIS is an offshoot of Al Qaeda and bent on nothing less than the destruction of not just the US of A, but killing as many Americans as they can.
But let's be realistic. We are sending "boots on the ground" to Iraq. We are putting our special forces into a combat zone.
We cannot, however, focus on regime change. We must focus strictly on halting the march of ISIS and turning the tide.
Once that is done - get out.
From the Cornfield, action in this situation is far better than inaction.
But - let us not allow politics to dictate what our military needs to do to insure our security.
