    Papa and his First Chevy

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Margie Santiago's father Michael Santiago, was in his twenties when he purchased his first car, a late '50s Chevrolet Bel Air for $295.00. This photo was taken by Santiago's mother in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1968.

Santiago said, "In June of 2012 my father suffered a debilitating stroke and can no longer walk. I miss seeing my father walk and do all of the things that he enjoyed doing in life. The image I sent in is of a vibrant young man proudly standing alongside his very first automobile."

While Santiago said her father remembers it being a '59 Bel Air, some intrepid CNN readers pointed out that it's from 1957. Alex Nunez, director of RoadandTrack.com, confirmed that the car's trim shape indicates it is a 1957 Bel Air.

In the attached photo, my father, sporting his leather jacket, stands alongside his 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air ... the epitome of cool! It was his very first automobile. Dad purchased it used and paid all of $295.00 for it. It was a column stick shift and he was accustomed to automatic transmission. He had to learn how to drive it. He tells me it turned out to be a very good car ... the first in a line of Chevies. Today Dad is a stroke survivor and my hero. Love you, Dad!
